Roustabout Oil & Gas Fracking



Roustabout refers to a worker who maintains all things in the oil field. He or she sets up oil well "heads," oil lead lines connected to stock tanks. Roustabouts will maintain disposal pumps, lease roads, lease mowing, create dykes around tank batteries on a lease, etc. An oil roustabout has no limits in the oil industry and can, and will do any and all oil field work, including roughneck drilling, oil well completion and well service, and even chemical work.

Roustabouts working in oil fields typically perform various jobs requiring little training. However, they frequently turn out to be long-term employees and take on more difficult and sometimes dangerous jobs as they gain experience. Most go on to at least become “roughnecks” if they work for the rig company for more than a few months.

·         Walking on uneven terrain for at least ½ mile

·         Complying with company and regulatory safety

The Roustabout Program is designed give you the knowledge and qualifications to make you the best candidate for the job. Numerous roustabout jobs are available throughout the USA so you can pick where you want to go. This program is offered as self-paced (do at home and take 50 question examination on-line) or classroom (4-days) and covers:
·         Principles of Oil & Gas
·         Fundamentals of Fracking
·         General Safety for the Oil & Gas Worker
·         Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) General Industry Standards
·         Pumps, Valves and Suction & Delivery Pipes
·         Handling Hazardous Materials and Waste

Roustabout is offered as a self-pace program or 4-day classroom program.

Self-pace – you are emailed the manual (approximately 160 pages) and list of videos you can watch on YouTube. Upon completing the chapters there is a 50 question examination (located at the end of the manual) that must be completed and mailed in or scanned and emailed to us. The examination is graded within 48 hours of receipt and your certificate of completion and wallet card are mailed out, for those who achieve 78% or better on the examination. If you should score less than 78% a second examination will be mailed to you (no additional fee) and you have 15 days to complete the examination and return it to us.

Classroom – a 4 day program is available in Madison, Illinois starting every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month. Classroom training provides you the opportunity to interact with the instructor and establish a network with fellow students. The manual is provided on the first day of class and the examination is collected and graded on the last day. Certificate of Completion and wallet card are issued at the class for those who achieve 78% or better on the examination.

Roustabout – On-Shore




3-Day Program for On-Shore Oil & Gas Fields

An oil "roustabout" refers to a worker who maintains all things in the oil field.
·         Sets up oil well "heads," oil lead lines connected to stock tanks.
·         Maintain saltwater disposal pumps, lease roads, lease mowing, create dykes around tank batteries on a lease, etc.
·         Assists in pumper activities.
·         Tank installations and repairs.
·         Dig trenches
·         General cleanup operations
·         Maintain tools
·         Has no limits in the oil industry and can, and will do any and all oil field work, including roughneck drilling, oil well completion and well service, and even chemical work.

Most go on to at least become “roughnecks” if they work for the rig company for more than a few months and most “toolpushers” first started as roustabouts.

Roustabout Abilities:
·         Work in a potentially hazardous environment
·         Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
·         Operate a vehicle safely (in all weather conditions)
·         Able to walk on uneven terrain (in all weather conditions) for at least ½ mile
·         Capable of lifting 80 pounds
·         Work as a team member with minimal supervision
·         Willing to perform each and every job in a safe manner
·         Willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed

Roustabout Qualifications:
·         High school diploma or GED
·         Valid driver’s license
·         Lift 80 pounds
·         Be able to walk on uneven terrain ½ mile
·         Knowledge of oil & gas field operations beneficial

Roustabout – Off-Shore



2-Day Program for Off-Shore Oil & Gas Rigs

This is a continuation from the On-Shore program and can be taken at any time. Off-Shore pays more than On-Shore therefore getting hired without experience is much more difficult. We recommend, you take the Roustabout On-Shore program and after working six-months if you decide you want to apply for Off-Shore then come to this program.

Water Survival
(does require getting in a swimming pool)


Roustabout Off-Shore Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Lift 80 pounds
Be able to work at heights
Ability to swim 1/8 mile and tread water 20 minutes
Knowledge of oil & gas rig operations beneficial

Prerequisite:
Roustabout On-Shore completion
